
Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon exited Saturday's matchup against top-ranked Texas during the second quarter after absorbing a hit on a designed rushing play. Brandon was escorted to the medical tent to have his right shoulder evaluated while the Volunteers faced a 10-3 deficit at Neyland Stadium, prompting sophomore George MacIntyre to take over under center.
Prior to his departure, Brandon had completed three of his four passing attempts for nine yards and recorded four rushes resulting in a loss of one yard. The injury occurred during Brandon's inaugural SEC start as he attempted to maintain the program's undefeated record following a strong opening stretch that featured nine total touchdowns across his first three collegiate appearances.
