Washington Commanders LB Frankie Luvu reportedly suffered groin strain

Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu sustained a groin strain during the team's 24-22 season-opening defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles. The setback may keep him out of the upcoming Week 2 matchup versus Dallas, though the injury is not anticipated to cause an extended absence.

Washington endured health issues with four separate contributors during the contest, in which a missed two-point attempt late in the fourth quarter sealed their defeat.

With Luvu sidelined, first-year linebacker Sonny Styles entered the lineup and applied pressure against Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Head coach Dan Quinn later reviewed the team's Week 1 performance during his Monday remarks, discussing the failed conversion and the status of several players, including Mike Sainristil and Nick Allegretti.
